CITAssess: Crisis Intervention Training Assessment Software
We asked CIT Coalition members, including police officers, peers, health providers, and administrators, about the services they need right now to do the job. 65% noted that technology and training assessment services were among the highest priorities. Programs are looking for ways to better document, verify and report the work.
Crisis intervention training plays a pivotal role in equipping law enforcement officers and community responders with the necessary skills to effectively manage situations involving individuals experiencing mental and behavioral health crises. The 40-hour training, considered a best practice intervention, positively impacts participant knowledge, attitudes towards mental illness, self-efficacy in crisis response, de-escalation skills, decision-making and referral. As a result, CIT has been broadly adopted nationally, alongside a broad range of community response programs.
While programs manage records in various ways, we found that over 65% of statewide Virginia CIT coalition respondents ranked training assessment services among their highest priority technology needs today. Systematic documentation and ongoing monitoring of training records, as well as ways to better capture field outcomes using assessments, are a pressing need for programs across sequential intercepts providing critical community response services. Compliant records management aids in demonstration of return on investment for crisis intervention and a coordinated behavioral health response. There are few solutions that offer compliance for records management for coordinated interagency or multi-systems programs.
